Meet the Trustees Meeting on 18th September 2025

The Trustees, Andy Cowell, Shaun Gray and Kay Clarke, held a 'Meet the Trustees’ meeting where they took questions from the attendees and outlined their plans for the short, medium and long term. Melinda Close stated she objected to the recent letter sent out regarding Zero tolerance. Andy pointed out that it was aimed at the very small few who try and stir up other members by continually trying to undermine the efforts of Trustees to give members the best possible indoor Bowling experience. If anyone has an issue, then it should be directed to one of the Trustees who will investigate it, but this sort of disruption will no longer be tolerated. An updated Code of Conduct was made available by Shaun Gray and is also available on the website.

The main intention of the Trustees is to get the roof permanently repaired or replaced before the greens carpet is due to be replaced in approximately two years’ time. The money to replace the carpet is already ‘ring fenced’ but will not happen until the roof has been sorted out.  A meeting between the Trustees and landlords is being arranged for the near future. The Trustees also want to increase membership, including Bowling, Social and Pètanque membership and are committed to improving the interior of the Stadium and facilities. Work has already been carried out on a new Coffee area and new storage areas for Coaching and staff.

The Social side of SWBRC continues to grow with Bingo especially, increasing its membership every month. The Trustees are looking to refresh the monthly entertainment with new, local and different acts including Ceri Dupree (Drag artiste), a medium/spiritualist, local bands and of course Tribute acts compered by Mark Thompson.

Great Place

I was surprised at the size of the  Bowling Rinks, a bit like going into the Tardis. Not tried Petanque yet, but would like to give it a go. Sunday Lunch was one of the best I have tasted.

Impressive, large stadium with a great group of people to play with.  The staff are very helpful and the food is truly excellent. Prices are also very competitive and if you are a member, you get generous discounts on food and drink, especially Bean to coffee beverages which are excellent.

Excellent Food

This was my first time here and I can't think of going anywhere else for Sunday Lunch.. Thank you all so much.
